Contact: Jennifer Porter Gore jgore@pogo.org or Peter Stockton (202) 347-1122 WASHINGTON-The Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is pleased by Energy Secretary Sam Bodman's request for Linton Brooks' resignation from his position as chief of the National Nuclear Security Administration. "This is an opportunity for the National Nuclear Security Administration to finally live up to its name," said POGO Executive Director Danielle Brian. "We applaud Secretary Bodman's decision to force accountability at NNSA, especially since it has been failing in its mission for years." In 2004, POGO called for Brooks' resignation because of repeated security breaches at Los Alamos National Laboratory and other nuclear facilities. In October, POGO revealed that Los Alamos police had found computer flash drives containing highly classified information when they responded to a domestic dispute. This incident was the seventh time between 2002 and 2004 there was a rapid-fire series of seven instances of missing or mishandled classified computer equipment and Classified Removable Electronic Media (CREM).
